Motivated Monday

And boy do I feel motivated.  I even made my list of things to do early so I could start knocking things out.

But first let's get some business out of the way.  I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not but 22 days ago I started the Fit in 42 book and yes, I have "dieted" so many times before I thought this would last the typical 1 week and then back to my old ways, but things are different this time.  I'm not sure if it's because I really want this or what but so far I have lost 6.5 pounds.  I am super excited!  And I haven't had sugar or milk chocolate since that first day either.  Go figure!  I can do this.  I feel sooooo good and am starting to not crave the sugar as much.  Food tastes so much better and I am eating more fruit.

Okay, so now that that is out of the way, here we go:

  • get the house cleaned
  • keep up on laundry
  • clean inside of Jeep, really good
  • get a good schedule planned for summer
  • finish Jessica's quilt
  • get fabric for Relay quilt
  • playdate--maybe 2
  • finish Wednesday's lesson
  • school at least 3 days but try really hard for 5
What's on the menu:

Monday--One dish chicken meal
Tuesday--Crock pot French dip sandwiches
Wednesday--Chipper Chicken Casserole
Thursday--Santa Fe Soup
Friday--Pan Pizza

Well I better to moving if I am going to get all this done.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday--Tuesday evening edition

I know, I know, it's not Monday.  But I am having such a great week so far I didn't want to take the time to write.

Anyway, this week I am cleaning because my grandparents are coming and really because somehow, with the 31 Days to Clean I got behind on cleaning.  I have been in a rut of sorts and really feel like I need to fall in love with my house again.  For me, that begins with a clean slate.  Right now, because I bribed my boys to help, my house is looking pretty good.  Once I have a yard sale and the used curriculum sale, I will really be happy.

This week I am still eating from the freezer so I am still winging it.  I know this will sound horrible, but I don't remember what we had last week, so I can't tell you.  I will try to remember for next week.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

Can you believe April is almost over?  What is happening to time?  I must be having fun is all I can say.

This week I am going to do what I always do.  I will probably have a "meeting" Friday to show off the new math curriculum I ordered.  I will post about it once I start using it.  And as far as any other play dates...who knows.

I think I might use the month of May to do some eating from the pantry/freezer meals because I am on overload.  Which is a blessing, don't get me wrong, but I can't find anything in my freezer, so I need to eat some of it.  I won't post my menus until the end of the week.  I'll just let you know what we had instead of what we are having.  Maybe I'll post a picture of the freezer so you can see what I mean.

And this week marks the beginning of Fit in 42.  You can buy the book at Amazon.  I am doing this 6 week challenge with Charli.  I don't who has lost their mind, her or me.  But the first week we have to give up sugary drinks and desserts.  Doesn't she know that is what I eat and drink all day!  Hopefully Dark Chocolate Almond milk will be acceptable.  Today was the first day I tried it and it's really not that bad.  If you want to join us on the crazy adventure click here and like.

I've been spending the weekend helping Scott work at his dads farm so I haven't been getting anything done here on Saturday.  That makes Monday a serious catch-up day on cleaning and laundry.  Hopefully I figure a way to make it work better.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

Sorry I'm a little late on the Motivated Monday front, but at least it's still Monday...

Today I am playing catch-up and keep-up with what we are doing with our 31 days to clean.  Tomorrow I will start on the office, which right now looks like a combination of garage/toys r us/shoe store.  By the end of the week I won't even recognize it.  The keep-up part of my day is making sure all the rooms we've already worked on are still in good shape.  I have a really bad habit of getting one room to the place I love it and the rest of the house goes to pot.  A habit that I am trying going to break.  Realistically, if I spend 15-20 minutes or even less every day going through our house and putting everything away, the house would stay the way I like it.  I'm on the phone longer than that.  I should multi-task.

What's on the menu, you may ask?  Well, this week I am going to wing it.  I really don't feel like sitting down and looking at a menu today because I want to plant flowers and clean and organize.  I wasn't home yesterday to menu plan, so...winging it.

Also, Charli and I are starting a new challenge for the month of May and June.  This is a challenge that I hope carries on for the rest of my life.  It is something that will make me feel better in general and all around. And because I feel better everyone around me will be effected by it.  It's not your typical diet and exercise program and I really think that the things the author wants you to do are doable.   Like Fit in 42 if you want to join us.

I feel like a commercial today...

Also.  Don't forget, if you or someone you know want to join our blog hop moms for a Homeschool Q&A, it is this Saturday, at Trinity Assembly of God in Fairmont, WV from 10-12.

Okay, I think I'm done for now.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

I think Spring has sprung.  My peach trees are full of bloom and hopefully in the very near future I will get to the store to buy some annuals for my flower beds.  Right now I am working on the inside of my house, but the end of the month is coming.

I need to get the recipes up here that Charli wanted but right now I don't have them beside me.  I promise I will get to that.  Check back in the recipe section later this week.

This is what is going on:
  • school--I would like to say we are almost done but I have a feeling we will be working on Math this summer.  Not a big deal.  It's better to do that because so much is forgotten otherwise.
  • I have 2 play dates this week.  One is a play date the other a "meeting".
  • Get Your Aprons On is still in full force.  This week we are working on the bedrooms and bathrooms.  I still need to finish my living room.  I'll get it done, no biggie.
  • Keep up on Motivated Moms schedule.  This is a little difficult while spring cleaning and "playing".
What's for dinner:
I organized our "3 body sized" freezer last week.  I wish I would've taken a before and after shot.  It was so messed up I could only fix what was on the top.  Now it is sorted by meats, everything where it should be.
  • tacos
  • steak
  • smokey apricot chicken
  • bbq chicken pizza--yes, this has been on the menu before.  I really want to try it.
  • Parmesan crusted tilapia
Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

Sorry I didn't update you Friday with a Follow-up Friday post.  I just got busy and ran out of time.  But here we are in another week.  The weekend went way to fast.  I spent the whole day Saturday on Scott's family farm helping prune apple trees.  I quickly found that my talent does not lie in pruning.  I like to cut everything so I demoted myself to ground crew.  I picked up rocks and twigs instead.  I must say, that little area in the field looks pretty good.

This week I planned a couple of play dates.  It looks like we are in streak of some pretty weather that we haven't had for a while.  I do plan to have a little school on the play days, but nothing to deep.

Here is what my week looks like:
  • play dates--Monday and Tuesday
  • Motivated Moms
  • Get Your Aprons on  We are on day 8 and my kitchen looks pretty good.
  • school
  • finish baby quilt
  • make at least 5-8 rings for girls conference donation
What's for dinner:
  • Hamburger Steaks w/ grilled onions
  • Baked pork chops
  • White chicken bbq
  • Crunchy fish
  • breakfast for supper
This weekend will be another busy one, so dinner may consist of sandwiches and left overs.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

Wow!  I actually have a busy week month!  April is going to be packed with blog hops and blog updates and cleaning and organizing and getting things lined up for Women of Faith and finishing up school and the list  goes on.

This week:
  • I will keep up with the Motivated Moms schedule while doing 31 day to clean.    Link to keep up on Charli's progress.
  • I will have school this week.  Even if I do have plans for a couple days.
  • I will serve good meals.
  • 31 days schedule goes like this:
    • Mission Statement/Get supplies ready
    • Clean out fridge and freezer/add life to my home
    • Clean tops of fridge and cabinets/love my family
    • Clean oven and microwave/have a friend over
    • Wash kitchen window and window treatments/family priorities (I don't have a window in my kitchen so I can take the day off...right?)
    • Clean and organize cabinets and pantry/make 6 list, read Romans 8:21
  • What's for dinner?
    • Grilled Ranch Chicken
    • Beef and Cheese Chimichangas
    • Roasted Pork Loin
    • BBQ Chicken Pizza
    • Camp Stew
    • If this menu looks familiar, it's because I didn't fix any of them in the past.  Sometimes you just want to wing it.
I'll let you know Friday how things went.

Also, tune in Tuesday and Thursday to learn from other women about homeschooling.

I'll put the links up tomorrow.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

The craft show is over...but I am super excited about how well I did.  I can't wait until the next one!  As soon as I get this house cleaned I am going to start making things for it.  That and the fact that I have opened an Etsy store, I need to keep an inventory.  I never thought I would say that, but if I am going to be the next big thing, I need to keep busy.  (Just kidding about the next big thing).  I'll keep you posted on the Etsy store and put up a link as soon as I get things on it.

So, needless to say, this week is going to be cleaning week.  Not spring cleaning, I talked briefly about that the other day, but just CLEANING.  I don't think I have dusted for a month.  And I am taking the week off from school so I can focus on getting it done.  No, it won't take all week, but why not take the week off to get things organized and to refocus.

What's for dinner:
Monday:  Not sure yet, Scott may be working over because of the snow and power outages.
Tuesday:  Pork Roast (not sure how I want to fix it yet, but it will go in the crockpot)
Wednesday:  Camp Stew (using leftovers from yesterday)
Thursday:  Pecan Crusted Tilapia
Friday:  Grilled Ranch Chicken
Saturday:  BBQ Chicken Pizza
Sunday:  Dinner at my in-laws.  I am tempted to take some rubbermaid containers for leftovers for Scott's lunch.

Well, I better get busy, the house isn't going to clean itself.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

I have this week left to crank out as many crafts as I can for Saturdays craft show.  I found some really pretty wire wrapped rings on pinterest and they are pretty easy to make and they are really pretty to wear, so I plan on whipping out a lot of them.

I do have a "play date" planned for this week, but we are going to work on random crafts while visiting.  I know, it sounds a little like we are old ladies sitting around quilting, but I think that would fun too.  Maybe I'm old....nah.  Two of us are getting ready for Saturday and one just likes to crochet.

An update--the Lego build off was a success even though the kids won.  The cupcake stand was great and held several cupcakes and of course, the kids think we are great because we brought them sugar,  I mean snacks.

So this week will look like this:
  • Crafts, crafts and more crafts.
  • Keeping the house picked up.  I just want to see the surfaces.  I don't really care about the rest right now.  After Saturday I will do a major clean.
  • Laundry
  • School
What's for dinner?
  • Pecan Crusted Tilapia
  • Camp Stew
  • Grilled Ranch Chicken
  • Beef and Cheese Chimichangas
  • Left overs or breakfast for supper
Hope everyone has a great week.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

I know Monday is almost over but I have been really busy today finishing up testing and straightening the house.  This week will be another busy week of running and crafting.  Hopefully April will slow down.  I haven't even sat down and looked at a menu and oddly that is really bothering me, so I won't put any menus down this week.

For the remainder of the week:
  1. Finish hanging planner thingys for the craft show.  If you want to help me name them feel free to comment.  Click here if you forget what they look like.  This one was the prototype.  The others have a bigger file folder pocket and an extra pocket for a jr. legal pad.
  2. Make some jewelry for the craft show.
  3. Start gathering stuff for presentation on my craft table.
  4. Do as much cleaning as I have time to do.  Maybe even tackle the den closet and make it more efficient.
  5. School on the days we are home.
  6. Blog meeting with Blog Buddies.
  7. Home school co-op.
Right now that looks like all that I have planned but who knows, something may come up.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

This week is going to filled with administering tests for a fellow homeschooler so I won't be home a whole lot.  Thankfully and to my surprise, we don't start testing until Tuesday and Scott skipped work again.  I think he missed me since I was stuck in bed all weekend with what I think was the crud from eating some bad chicken.  So I think today we are going to run around.  I don't care if the house gets cleaned to perfection, I just want to spend the day with my man.

So here goes the week:

Monday:
  • Cleaning (maybe)
  • Spending the day with Scott
  • On the menu:  Individual Chicken Pies
Tuesday:
  • Testing
  • Clean (if I feel like it)
  • On the menu:  Company Chicken
Wednesday:
  • Testing
  • It will probably take me all week to clean
  • On the menu:  Blackened Tilapia
Thursday:
  • Testing
  • Finish whatever cleaning is left (I may have the in-laws down for dinner Sunday, so I need to make sure the house looks good.)
  • On the menu:  Beef and Cheese Chimichangas
Friday:
  • Roller skating  (I may not make it to Saturday)
  • On the menu:  Leftovers or Breakfast or maybe pizza
We are supposed to get some snow, so there may be a snow day in the testing.  Hopefully we don't get any snow.  I'm tired of the cold and snow.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

Enough already of my Februlazy.  I don't know what my problem has been, but good grief!  So my intention this week is to roar into March like a lion.  I have a lot of February chores to catch up on so I am going to try my best.

Scott stayed home today, so I probably won't get as much done, but I love that he stayed home. He is also wanting to start the P90X exercise videos.  I may end up in bed with the heating pad all week so nothing may get done.

Monday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule

  • Work on some crafts for the craft show
  • What's for dinner:  Company Chicken
Tuesday:

I really hope to get things done this week.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

I didn't get a chance to post my Follow-up Friday.  I just got busy and forgot about it.  But I have really enjoyed sharing one of my favorite recipes from the week so here is last weeks fav.

Honey Mustard and Bacon Chicken

1.5 pounds boneless chicken breasts, pounded
1/4 cup honey mustard
1 bag real bacon pieces, (I just fried up some bacon)
4 ounces shredded mozzarella
2 tablespoons oil
salt/pepper

Salt and pepper chicken.  Saute chicken in heated oil on med-high approx. 7 minutes on each side.  Brush tops of chicken with honey mustard, then chopped bacon, then cheese.  Cover skillet to melt cheese.

This week I don't have any social adventures planned so hopefully I can get a good week of school in and catch up on my February deep cleaning.

Monday-Friday will pretty much be the same as any other week.  Yes, I am lazy this morning, but I will give you my menu.

Monday:  tacos
Tuesday:  Chipper Chicken Casserole
Wednesday:  Beef tips and Gravy
Thursday:  Cola Roasted Chicken
Friday:  left overs or breakfast for dinner

Have a great week.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

The weather this week is supposed to be a little bit warmer, at least the beginning anyway, so I want to get some things done that may require window opening.  No, it won't be that warm, but I need to open them long enough to clean them.  We'll see how many get done.

I have a friend that just ordered a boxed curriculum and we were discussing how nice it is to just get up for school and have everything laid out for you.  All you do is open the book.  I posed the question, why don't we do that ourselves?  Yes, for the whole year.  So, I spent the weekend doing that.  I finished out the year of lesson plans.  So this week should and will be a great week of school.

I will also be deep cleaning the dining room and bathroom this week.

So here is what is happening:

Monday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • school
  • obvious things
  • office day
  • what's for dinner: blackened tilapia
Tuesday:

  • what's for dinner:  honey, bacon chicken
Thursday:

  • errand day
  • what's for dinner:  vegetable soup and fried bread
Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

It looks like this week is going to at least start out pretty snowy, which means I am staying in.  When I stay in  I can get stuff done.  I shouldn't need to go out until THESIS on Friday so whatever I might need from the store will have to wait until then.

I started on my kitchen Friday because THESIS was cancelled and to my surprise I got most of it done.  That means this week will be cleaning the oven and small appliances and the floor, trim and walls.  I may even be able to start in the dining room.

And keeping the rooms that I have done in "ready" position has really helped.  It doesn't take that long to walk through each room and put things away and get them ready for whatever.  I am finding that I actually put things away when I am finished now.  And what I have done in my kitchen has made me want to be in there more.

This week looks like this:

Monday:
  • Motivated moms schedule
  • school
  • the obvious things
  • work on the kitchen
  • office day
  • what's for dinner?--Ham and cheese quiche
Tuesday:
  • Motivated moms schedule
  • school
  • the obvious things
  • work on the kitchen
  • kitchen day-I'll already be in there cleaning
  • what's for dinner?--savory chicken stroganoff
Wednesday:
  • Motivated moms schedule
  • school
  • the obvious things
  • work on the kitchen
  • hobby day-I still need to stay busy for the craft show
  • what's for dinner?--pork lo mein
Thursday:
  • Motivated moms schedule
  • school
  • the obvious things
  • work on the kitchen
  • what's for dinner?--Chicken Parmesan and penne
Friday:
  • Motivated moms schedule
  • the obvious things
  • THESIS
  • what's for dinner?--Breakfast or leftovers

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

This is the last week of January, so I will have my basement done even if it means pulling an all nighter to do it.  Really, it shouldn't take much longer, I just need to focus on it and not get distracted by the other rooms that I want to work in.

This week is going to be pretty mellow.  I don't have any social outings planned but I don't mind spontaneity at all.

So this week will look pretty much the same as the rest.

Monday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • School
  • the obvious things
  • Office Day
  • Still working on the basement
  • What's on the menu:  Chicken Pasta
Tuesday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • School
  • the obvious things
  • Hobby Day
  • What's on the menu:  Beef tips with gravy
Wednesday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • School
  • the obvious things
  • Kitchen Day
  • Still working on the basement
  • What's on the menu:  Honey Pecan Crusted Chicken
Thursday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule

  • Errand Day--If I have any to run out and get anything.
  • Still working on the basement
  • What's on the menu:  BBQ Pork Chops
Friday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • the obvious things
  • THESIS
  • What's on the menu:  Awesome Nachos
Maybe since things will be slow, I will work on that about me page.  I did add a page for recipes, if your interested.  Right now there is only one but it's a start.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

I'm picking up the pace again this week.  For two reasons: one-I don't want to start slacking because I had a bad week.  two-It is going to be very cold this week and what better way to stay warm than to stay busy.

I have another "play date" this week and dessert with some other blog friends.  If you don't know by now, I love to be social.  I think I could live my life being social.  I may be exaggerating a little but I love my friends.

So here it goes:

Monday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • School
  • the obvious things
  • Dessert out with blog friends
  • Office Day
  • Still working on the basement, but making headway or should I say floorway.  I am finally seeing empty spaces.
  • What's on the menu:  Chicken Parmesan & Penne
Tuesday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • School
  • the obvious things
  • Hobby Day
  • Play date
  • What's on the menu:  Country Fried Steak and Gravy
Wednesday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • School
  • the obvious things
  • Kitchen Day
  • Still working on the basement
  • What's on the menu:  Foil Dinners
Thursday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • School
  • the obvious things
  • Errand Day--If I have any to run out and get anything.
  • Still working on the basement
  • What's on the menu:  Parm Crusted Fish
Friday:
  • Motivated Moms schedule
  • the obvious things
  • There is no THESIS this week so I will take advantage of the extra day and either work in the basement or make some jewelry for the craft show. And maybe have some school since I probably won't do much Tuesday.
  • What's on the menu:  Breakfast for Supper or left overs
I may update some things on my goals for 2013 and make an about me page, but I don't know if I will get time for that this week.  I'll put a tab at the top of the page beside HOME and you'll know when it's there.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

I had an amazing week last week.  For some reason I actually feel motivated to get things done.  I wake up every day with a feeling of excitement and hope and I go to bed the same way.  After thinking about it during church, I think I am allowing God to restore my joy.  It's been so long since I had real joy that I forgot what it felt like but for me with hope comes joy and with joy comes motivation.  So this week is going to be just as good or better than last week.

I am having a coffee meeting with a friend that I used to have coffee meetings with a lot but for some reason we haven't for a while, so this is a habit that needs picked back up.

I will still continue with Project Peacock.  I'll keep you posted....

So here it goes:

Monday:
  • Motivated Moms checklist--seriously, if you haven't subscribed to here checklist, you need too.  www.motivatedmoms.com
  • the obvious stuff (laundry, exercise, devotions and so on...)
  • coffee meeting
  • maybe a little bit of school
  • office day
  • on the menu-chicken tortilla soup, this time I need to remember to put it in the crock pot

  • on the menu-lasagna
Wednesday:

  • the obvious stuff (laundry, exercise, devotions and so on...)
  • school
  • kitchen day
  • work on the basement
  • on the menu-Beef fried rice
Thursday:
  • Motivated Moms checklist
  • the obvious stuff (laundry, exercise, devotions and so on...)
  • school
  • errand day-however, I don't think I will need to run out for anything because I am trying to shop one a month and anything I need to pick up I can get after THESIS
  • work on basement
  • on the menu-honey glazed tilapia
Friday:
  • Motivated Moms checklist
  • the obvious stuff (laundry, exercise, devotions and so on...)
  • THESIS
  • on the menu-breakfast for dinner
And I got it out a day early again!  What is wrong with me?

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

I am starting back to school this week...

I am also going to kick some serious butt on this house.  It is still looking pretty rough and I am hoping to get a jump on the spring cleaning, even though spring is longgggg way away.  I figure if I can get started on stuff now, when the weather gets really nice, I can play instead of clean.

So this week looks like this:
Monday
  • Motivated Moms checklist
  • get into the nooks and crannies of the basement
  • the "obvious thing" (school, devotions, laundry and so on....)
  • really want to start exercising
  • office day
  • what's for dinner-Crispy Tilapia with lemon butter
Tuesday
  • Motivated Moms checklist
  • stay in the nooks and crannies of the basement
  • the "obvious thing" (school, devotions, laundry and so on....)
  • exercise
  • hobby day (I really need to get ready for a craft show that is coming up)
  • what's for dinner-Honey mustard meatloaf
Wednesday
  • Motivated Moms checklist
  • check the nooks and crannies of the basement for anything else
  • the "obvious thing" (school, devotions, laundry and so on....)
  • exercise
  • kitchen day
  • what's for dinner-chicken nugget salad
Thursday
  • Motivated Moms checklist
  • errand day
  • the "obvious thing" (school, devotions, laundry and so on....)
  • exercise
  • set up a coffee bar in my house (since I got a new Keurig for Christmas, Yay me!)
  • what's for dinner-chicken tortilla soup
Friday
  • Motivated Moms checklist
  • THESIS
  • the "obvious thing" (devotions, laundry and so on....)
  • exercise
  • what's for dinner-tacos

*If some things on the menu are the same from last week, it is because we didn't have them.

Until next time, stay blessed.

Motivated Monday

Happy New Year's Eve!

Scott will be home from work for a couple more days so I am still on vacation myself.  I enjoy when he is home but I don't get anything done other than hanging out with him.  (I'm not complaining.)

Anyway, I need to light a fire under my own butt because my house is starting to look like I am a college kid waiting for my mom to come and clean for me.

I am not starting school back yet because our Christmas visits aren't finished yet.  So school won't start until next week.

So here it is:

Monday:

  • I am going to try to clean the public areas of my house and the bathrooms
  • Take the Christmas tree down and put decorations away
  • Hopefully a trip to the grocery store is in the plans (I am almost out of coffee creamer)
  • On the menu for tonight-Spinach and Cheese Manicotti
