The Best Re-gift Ever

at least for me...

I never thought in a million years that I would take up the hobbies that I am enjoying.  I really never had any interest in being domesticated.  But something has changed and I think it is awesome.  Anyway, to my point.

Over the last few years I have taken an interest in sewing.  I always knew how to sew by hand but a sewing machine was like learning (and still is) a foreign language to me.  My mother-in-law on the other hand sews in her sleep, I think, and has been, from what Scott says, forever.  (Wow, and I want to be like her when I grow up.  I don't know if it's possible.)

One Mother's Day she convinced me to buy myself a sewing machine.  I had one, but it was from the 70's and didn't work perfectly, randomly worked would be a good way to describe it.  So, now I have this sewing machine that scares me to death because it does things that I don't even know what they are (and still don't) but I am going to figure it out.

Ok, I digress...

One year for Christmas we bought my mother-in-law a sewing table.  I'm not sure why didn't have one or what she sewed on before but she wanted it, so we bought it for her.  This Christmas she bought herself a state of the art sewing table that would make any amateur, like myself, drool.  So, you guessed it, she re-gifted the old sewing table back to me.  I was ecstatic!  Now I feel like  I can do this whole sewing thing.  I will learn what some of things are, like tension setting and presser foot levels.  Whatever, they work fine right now.

Here is what my sewing table looked like before the re-gift:

Yes, one of those folding tray table things.  No wonder I didn't want to do to many projects.

Here is the new table, all opened up with my latest creation, a raggy quilt for Seth.

And here it is all closed up and put away with a basket of snacks for Scott.

I must say, my mother-in-law is a keeper.  She is, next to mom, my biggest cheerleader.  And I wish I lived closer so she could teach me how to do some of the things she does.  Maybe we should take a vacation together so I could learn all the ins and outs of presser feet and bobbin sizes.

(Now, if I could just convince her I am ready for the embroidery machine.)

Until next time, be blessed.
